It hangs by the door, or sits on a shelf, and shows the next trains from your station. You glance at it on the way out. That's the whole idea.
There's no glow. The screen is color e-ink, the same kind of paper-like display as an e-reader, so it looks printed rather than lit. It shows train times and nothing else.
Made of
- Solid white oak or walnut, oiled by hand in Queens
- A 7.3″ color e-ink screen with a linen mat
- A battery that charges over USB-C, so there's no cable on the wall
Setup
Scan the code on the screen with your phone, join your Wi-Fi, pick your station. About two minutes, no app, no account.
Yours to keep
No subscription, ever. The train data comes from the MTA's free public feed through our own server, and the firmware is designed to keep working if we're ever gone.
